DigCORE

the project in a nutshell

Digital Compensation of Inter Crosstalk in Multicore Fibers - DigCORE ...
is an R&D project running in a cooperation between two IT sites, IT-Aveiro and IT-Lisbon. The ultimate goal of the DigCORE project comprises the development, implementation and experimental validation of low-complexity data-center-network-compatible digital mitigation techniques for effective reduction of the outage constraints imposed by inter-core crosstalk (ICXT) in weakly-coupled multicore fiber (MCF) based systems.

MCF Development

MCF-based optical link set-up

MCF Development and Characterization
Includes an accurate characterization of the MCF-based physical link, which should address the datacenter network (DCN) configuration as well as the specification of systems and subsystems. This activities will be carried out by the Optical Networking Group (ONet-Lx) of Instituto de Telecomunicações - Lisbon.

DSP Tools

DSP enabled optical detection

Advanced DSP
The development and preliminary assessment of tailored digital signal processing (DSP) techniques to mitigate the effect of inter-core crosstalk (ICXT) in MCFs when employed in DCN scenarios. This task will be carried out by the Optical Quantum Communications and Technologies (OQCT-Av) of Instituto de Telecomunicações - Aveiro.
